3 Problematic Issues That Cause Too Many Sleepless Nights for Couples

The only thing worse than tossing and turning late at night, is tossing and turning because of something your partner did.  Unfortunately, this exact struggle is depriving many couples of a good night’s sleep.  It can be particularly challenging to get wholesome rest when one, or both members of a couple, behave in a way that interrupts sleep.  Losing out on sleep as a couple might not seem like a big deal, but it actually takes a toll on intimacy as time goes by.

The Couple that Sleeps Together, Stays Together:

Relationship Expert Sheri Stritof suggests that “Many marriage experts believe that peaceful sleeping together can keep a marriage healthy. Why do people share a bed with a spouse if they would sleep better if they didn’t? Usually, the answer is because even if you don’t get the best night’s sleep, you find comfort and emotional intimacy in sleeping together.” Here are a few common nuisances that get in the way of sleep for couples:

      I.        Bad Dental Hygiene:

There are many reasons why it’s healthy to brush before bedtime.  One of them being that bad breath is repulsive.  If anyone in the bedroom regularly has bad breath at night, that translates into less cuddling, less sex, and detached posturing during slumber.

    II.        Loud Snoring:

Snoring is by far the most complicated interruption to confront for couples.  Especially because snoring is often a chronic condition. It has no straightforward remedies.  Either way, if snoring happens in the bedroom, couples should be prepared to make compromises for the sake of good sleep.

   III.        Uncomfortable A/C Levels:

When two people have opposite preferences on room temperature, it’s almost impossible to spend the night without restlessness.  Instead of setting the a/c to extreme heat, or extreme cold, use a lukewarm temperature-level that isn’t too upsetting for either person.

Conclusion:

If you happen to be part of a couple, and something incidental gets in the way of a good night’s rest, don’t sweep the issue under the rug.  It’s much more helpful to be honest and practical when it comes to resolving sleep disorders.  Sometimes it takes major adjustments to find a solution. But more often than not, all couples need is a basic remedy.  Simply think outside the box, and use common sense to create a relaxing atmosphere.  If you like what you just read from our blog, you’ll love the various informative courses, workshops and events listed on our websites and social media.
