5 Every-Day Habits that Shut Down Health-Related Anxiety

The coronavirus pandemic has ushered in a lot of changes in society.  One of these changes is an increase in the number of people who feel anxious about their health.  Considering what the world has been through in the past few months, such anxiety is certainly understandable.  But even so, anxiety is still a destructive emotion. It needs to be alleviated in order to avoid triggering stress or trauma.

Don’t Let Fear Take Over Your Mind:

1.    Avoid Bingeing on the News-Cycle:

               Network news is a nonstop avalanche of controversy and terror.  Instead of staying glued to the news, skim through the important headlines, and then find something else to do.

2.    Talk to Someone About Your Feelings:

               A burden shared, is a burden halved.  If you have access to counseling, get in touch with a therapist who can help you process your emotions.  Talking to a good friend can also strengthen your peace of mind.

3.    Enjoy Some Humor Every Now and Then:

               There’s a reason why they say laughter is the best medicine.  It’s because laughter releases therapeutic hormones into the body.  Finding a way to laugh can genuinely counteract the effects of anxiety on a biological level.

4.    Sleep:

The easiest way to interrupt anxiety is to get a good night’s rest.  Your mind might be racing during every waking moment of the day, but it gets a chance to disconnect and reset during deep states of slumber.

5.    Eat a Balanced Diet:

               Eating healthy strengthens the immune system, and nourishes the body with energy.  Make sure your diet has a good distribution of ingredients from the food pyramid.
